| DriveSavers, the worldwide leader in data recovery services, announces today it is officially recognized as a Certified Green Business by the County of Marin Community Development Agency. DriveSavers, with over 85 employees and over 7,000 business partners, recovers data from all storage devices and all operating systems¡ªfrom legacy to state-of-the-art. To be certified green, the company had to meet higher standards than required by law in energy- and water-conservation, waste reduction and pollution prevention.

DriveSavers has taken steps to reduce the energy consumption of its IT equipment by revamping the network topology. All VGA monitors have been replaced with energy efficient LCD monitors. Older, energy-efficient systems are being phased out and replaced by newer multi-processor systems for better energy savings. Old desktop servers and switches have been consolidated into rack-mounted¨Cenergy-efficient blade servers and switches, and ten different network components have been consolidated into just two network components.
DriveSavers data center was redesigned to reduce power demand. Servers more than three years old were replaced with new energy efficient models. To help manage energy consumption in the facility, the company implemented power management software. All new lighting and plumbing installed throughout the building complies with Marin County certification requirements. The company has also installed building automation controls and an energy-efficient HVAC.
New changes to DriveSavers daily office environment/tasks include using soy-based ink on recycled paper for promotional materials, recyclable paper products, biodegradable kitchenware and additional non-toxic cleaning products. Parking spaces in front of the office are offered to employees who carpool or drive hybrid cars. Bicycle racks are also available for those who bike to work.
